How much do we give our daughter for her first baby tooth she's about to lose?

The night my son's first tooth fell out, I was completely broke. I had no way to go to the bank after he fell asleep since it's just the two of us, so I put a big bottle of bubbles under his pillow! (I have a secret stash of toys for special occasions.) He was thrilled when he saw it the next morning. For his second tooth, he got $5. I honestly think that's too much, but I didn't have any ones in my purse.





BTW, I kept the first tooth. I bought a jar of baby food, emptied and washed it, then put the tooth inside with a label on it that has the date the tooth fell out. :)
Reply:you won't believe it, cause I didn't, when I was a child, I only got like 2 dollars, and no grandparents gave me money, just the toothfairy, but apparently the toothfairies going rate for a first tooth these days is 10 dollars, or 30 if your my nephew, and the price for losing a first tooth paid by the grandparents? 5 dollars, and from great grand parents? 20...yes, my daughter for her first tooth recieved a total of 35 dollars, I told my mom...she owes me alot of back pay lol. for her second tooth..we gave her 3 dollars, and collected the money from other family members before our child could, and put it in her bank account. I don't want her to think that each time she loses a tooth she gets like 20 bucks, mine is the type you would see on tv trying to pull them out so she could raise money for that cool new toy she saw in target.

Reply:the going rate when I was a little girl was whatever change happen to be laying in my mothers purse haha. It could be $5 it could have been .50cents. It wasn't a huge deal with our family to make sure a lot of money was given, it was more about the suprise and wait to see what you were given.





When my son loses his first tooth (in years to come haha) he will probably just get a story book or dinkie under his pillow, definatly nothing more than $5 is going towards an old tooth that I am going to toss.
Reply:when i was young, i used to get 25cents for regular teeth and 50cents for molars. i'm 22 now.
Reply:I would give 3-5 dollars for her first tooth. I used to get 5. I got a pair of shoes once. lol.
Reply:when i was a kid it was $3 for the first tooth and $1 for every tooth after that. my nephew got $6 for first tooth and $3 for each tooth after that.
Reply:I think whatever you can afford...I also think a dollar is appropriate. Children that young of age (assuming your child is between 5-8) would be happy with a dollar.

I plan on doing something different. I'm going to buy a charm bracelet for the first tooth and a charm for each tooth there after.
Reply:my parents gave me $5 for my first tooth and $2 for every other tooth. Oh and $5 for my last tooth.
