What's the going rate for a tooth these days? My little girl is about to lose a tooth. I use to get a quarter or fifty cents I think. But with inflation I'm guessing things have changed.
Tooth fairy money?
i started out getting a quarter then i got a dollar then twoo the five and five for the rest of my life!!!
Reply:When I was a kid(I'm 23 now) my brother and I got a dollar bill every time we lost a tooth. I think that's about all I'd give my child... maybe $2, nothing more than that though.
Reply:How old is she.. I put a dollar for my 8 year old.
Reply:My oldest daughter got $5, she's 11.
My son who is 9 got $10 and my youngest just lost her first tooth about a year ago and she got $20..
However, the same youngest child just lost two teeth in a row. and she only got a buck each tooth.
Reply:I give my son a dollar. I don't think it really matters though. When those kids see any kind of money, it gets exciting.
Reply:I go with about $1.00. Then for the biggies like molars, etc. I raise it to a couple of dollars.
Reply:I would get anywhere from 50 cents for $1 ( I am 22 now). To a child it does not make much difference, and I always thought the quarters were the most fun b/c you had more than one.
Reply:well we give 5 bucks.. just enough for the WOW factor.. i mean it needs to be special
Reply:I have friends that give $5, but I find $1 is just enough to be able to spend on something -- at the dollar store, maybe, but not so much I go bankrupt :)
Reply:I was given a dollar at any age. You know how much things cost of what she is going to buy. If you think she will just buy a candy bar, give her a dollar. If you think she is going to buy a box of crayons, give her 5. Just go with what you find appropriate.
Reply:ask your neighbors! my daughter and the kid across the street lost teeth around the same time and we gave my daughter $20 and the kid across the street cried because she only got $1 and she thought the tooth fairie didn't like her!
Reply:Well, for the first tooth she got $10, but was told that after that she would only receive $1.00. I felt that the first tooth is a big deal and she should be able to get enough money to go out and buy something with it!
Reply:i got 25 cents- two dollars
Reply:5-15 dollars
Reply:i give my kids 1 pound i think thats roughly around 2 dollars ,inflations tough i remember my mum giving me 20 pence as a child lol.
Reply:I'd think long and hard, because kids have a lot of teeth. It seems exciting when they lose the first one, but they keep coming out. Plus if you have more than one kid you have to repeat all this.
I think one dollar is probably enough, but the problem is is that they want you to spend your time going to the dollar store and look around forever to buy some junky stuff that breaks or they forget about in half a day.
I'm not sure what the solution is, but just realize that you are setting a precedent, so be careful.
Reply:£1 I think?, we are about to enter this phase here!
Reply:I got 1 dollar. Than 3. But than when it came to my last 5 teeth which were being pulled by my brother because I had an appointment to get braces so that was 8 bucks. I admit. I was spoiled.
3 bucks is great or 2
Reply:I get 10 dollars under my pillow and 10 in my lunchbox. But if you want you can give her 5 dollars under her pillow plus a special"surprise" like a small toy!It will make her feel special.
Reply:My 2 oldest children have always gotten $1.00 for each tooth that they lose.
Reply:5.00. This will give your kid some excitement, but wont have your money flying away.
Reply:my daughter is 7 and has lost 6 teeth so far what I have done is given her 2 dollars worth of quarters each one she lost and she gets so excited because it seems like so much money, then she asks me to take her to the dollar store lol
Reply:1st tooth is 25 cents
and then increase to 50 cents until you get to the molars like the big teeth, the last to go then put one dollar for those
Reply:First of all, let me say, I don't advise this and this wouldn't have been the "going rate" in our house. This is just a funny story I wanted to share! When our daughter lost her first tooth, it was looser than we thought. Neither my husband nor I had any small bills (we had planned to leave a dollar or two). All we could find was a roll of dimes! She was very happy!!! It took a few more teeth to work our way back down! Poor thing! We told her you got lots of money for the first tooth!
Reply:I give my kids 3 dollars
