How much did you give the child?
Did you put it under their pillow?
What did you do if they lost or swallowed the tooth?
How old was the child when you quit pretending?
Have you ever played Tooth Fairy?
Yes - and Santa Claus and Easter bunny.
How much - usually .25 or .50 cents per tooth. My kids then milk their Grammie for $1.00/tooth. Yes, they are spoiled.
Location of tooth - my son has a "tooth pillow" and my daughter has a "tooth teddy bear" who holds a pouch for the tooth in his paws. I used to use the 'ol under the pillow when I was a kid though.
Lost or swallowed tooth - Knock on wood - it hasn't happened.
Quit pretending - well, I'm still doing it for my 10 and 7 yr. olds. HOWEVER, I think the 10 yr. old is on to me, but wants the money anyway!!
Reply:no never did
Reply:Yes. I got a fist full of knuckles.
Reply:No yet...
2 and 4 too young!
Reply:yes, and the most I gave was a twenty because I didn't have anything smaller. When they stop losing teeth. The tooth fairy stops coming. I'm a softy.
Reply:Yes for my kids. I used to have a stash of silver dollars just for that occasion.
I still have the teeth.
Reply:Yes, for my children. I gave a dollar. I put it under the pillow, and took the tooth, which was under the pillow. Never had a kid lose or swallow a tooth. Just told my ten year old. I dragged it out longer than most people do, because it broke my heart each time to tell the truth about all the magic, but I think in each case, they knew before, anyway. I still have all the teeth, too.
Reply:yes for three boys. The amount was based on the location of the tooth and how they lost it. For example a tooth that was pulled and located in the back would get them 1.50 to 2.00, or a trip to the dollar store for a toy of their choice. I would tell them the tooth fairy put the money in my pocket( thats if I fell asleep and didn't get a chance to put the money under their pillow.) I always told my kids that the only way the tooth fairy would come is if the tooth is under my pillow.
Reply:I have.
Usually young children get a bigger charge out of shiny new coins than paper money. Of course the guilt of short changing your own kids is incredible so the bigger the better. (Also, helps relieve the choking child anxiety if the coin is bigger than they can get into thier mouths)
Under the pillow is funnest for me but the mother in law bought a ceramic box with an angel on it that is made for this situation. You put the tooth in and leave it next to the bed on the night stand. This works well with the occasional swallowed tooth also.
Haven't quit yet -mine are 3 and 5. They usually run out of teeth by around 6 so maybe it woun't be an issue.
Reply:$1. Who got too old? lol
Reply:No, don't have any kids yet.
