Parents - What does the tooth fairy give these days?

My son is about to loose his first tooth. I have absoluty no clue what the tooth fairy gives out these days (money, small toys?)

When I was a kid I always got about 50 cents, but I don't think that will do now.

Any ideas would be great!!!

Parents - What does the tooth fairy give these days?
I think the going rate is about two dollars now a days .. :) Thats what I give my daughter.. But, there was a small instance where my husband threw her tooth in the garbage, and she threw a fit because he didn't know what was in the baggie, and the tooth fairy left her a note saying that she found her tooth in the garbage and she knew it was hers cause her brothers are to young to loose their teeth and she left her 5 dollars.. What an adventure that was.. I still laugh about that one...
Reply:ill would give him 2 dollars and get him to put it in his money box to save for something he really wants and that way when he loses his teeth he knows that the tooth fairy wants him to save for something special
Reply:Well it would really matter about the age

0-7 a toy

8- money

thats what i think and im 12 and i lost all my teeth and got them back!
Reply:Well,

I say $2.. but she always get $3.

Makes me want to loose some teeth..lol
Reply:$5 for the first tooth and $2 for every tooth after that
Reply:My daughter loves coins so I gave her a 50 cent piece and a new toothbrush for her first tooth
Reply:The tooth fairy only gives my kids $1 for every tooth. After all they are only kids. What do they really need the money for?
Reply:When I was losing my teeth, my parents gave me rarer money like $2 bills, silver dollars, or half dollars. This made it more special, and I didn't care about how much money I did or didn't get. The gold dollar coins that recently came out might be a nice way to do this.
Reply:HA! show your son that he can buy a gumball all by himself at the grocery store with 25 cents, after the tooth fairy gives him 50 cents. that will make him happy, because it will be his choice what to get. also, you chew the gum and throw it away, it doesn't lie around in the middle fo the night like a toy to be stepped on. lol. have fun!
Reply:For my sons first tooth, we gave him $5 and for the ones after that he got $3. He is also six, has lost 4 teeth and is saving the money for the optimus prime that he wants.
Reply:I say give a buck for each tooth.
Reply:The tooth fairy brought my daughter a dollar for her 1st tooth. It seemed a bit much, but I had asked the same question on here not long ago and that is what most everyone said. Plus, she didn't just loose the tooth it was pulled and she had been such a good girl during that dentist appointment I thought she deserved it.

Check my Q%26amp;A for more ideas under my question if you like!
Reply:I gave my son $5.00 for the first tooth he lost and then $2.00 for each tooth afterwards.
Reply:$1 for every tooth and a tooh brush.
Reply:five years ago when i was ten i got a full dollar bill from the

"tooth fairy" now it is 50 cents up to a dollar
Reply:1st tooth: $2

1st molar: $2

when the dentist/ortho pulls it for dental reasons: $2 per tooth

anything else: $1

(make sure the tooth is in a zip-lock bag or it can get lost)
Reply:I give my 7 and 9 year old boys $2 and a sticker (they put stickers on all there sports balls, it's there way of collecting them). When they were a bit younger, I gave them bubbles but they prefer the stickers. So in short, $2 and something small they would enjoy.
Reply:Our tooth fairy gives the golden dollar coins. She gets them from the local bank and rubs a little silver polish on them which makes them shine like you wouldn't believe. My 8 year old has always gotten the Sacagawea dollars but this year they started minting the dollar coins with presidents' faces (in order of being in office, sort of like the state quarters). So my 6 year old might get a Washington golden dollar coin for her first lost tooth (3 are wiggling).

While our tooth fairy has always just left dollar coins, she might just leave something more when the oral surgeon pulls 4 molars this fall to make room in an over-crowded mouth.

Your son will learn that there are many tooth fairies out there and not all of them pay out the same. Some of his friends will get some pretty amazing stuff. Some might get less. You will have to explain that in a way that you are comfortable with.
Reply:when i was little i got two one dollar peices
Reply:A golden dollar
Reply:My son who will be seven next month just lost his first tooth.

My mother had bought him a book before it came out called

" Twinkle The Tooth Fairy " It's a really cute book that comes with a little velvet bag with golden ties. The story talks about how the velvet is from the fairys dress and the ties come from the sun and you place the bag under your pillow with your tooth in it so it's easy for the tooth fairy to find your tooth under your pillow. In return the tooth fairy gives a " golden coin" which I simply used a gold dollar. My son was so excited that the story was true and he got a golden dollar he showed it off to everyone! It's a really great book and the bag does come in handy when you try to find that itty bitty tooth under the pillow! :)
