Why isn't God as nice a person, just like Santa and the Tooth Fairy?

Santa and the Tooth Fairy are quite nice and they give cool stuff and cash to kids, especially well-behaved (and wealthy) kids.

On the other hand....

No matter how good kids are, all God does is put the religious gun against kids' heads and tells them "Worship me or you'll be PWN3D!!!"

(OK, God created this world for us to enjoy, but, heck, that was 6000 years ago!!! What does he do for a living these days?)

Why isn't God as nice a person, just like Santa and the Tooth Fairy?
The tooth fairy and Santa are fairly tales for children. As they grow older, they cease to believe in them.

Organized religion has as much basis in fact as Santa, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy. They are real, only so long as you believe in them.

Man created God, I don't understand why he didn't create a more tolerant figure,. that would be loved instead of feared.
Reply:He's just like Santa, just with an extra EXTRA long naughty list!
Reply:Because god had father and mother issues growing up
Reply:you still living arn't you!!!! every day that you wake up is a gift from god. and god is not an angry god.
Reply:He is nice. He gave you life. Santa couldnt do that
Reply:He's nice to me, maybe he just does not like you.

Kidding.

I dunno.
Reply:Because he's a myth, just like the tooth fairy and santa.
Reply:Without God, there would be no santa or tooth fairy to give you stuff.
Reply:It depends on how you define G-d. If you think he's like a Santa that is supposed to give you this and that when you pray, disappointment is certain. IMO, G-d doesn't work that way. For me, he is there waiting to share with me my joy and pain, like a good friend and/or therapist. I don't feel like a gun is to my head if I don't worship him. And also it depends on how you define worship... I rarely go to any religious services but I worship him just the same. I keep the sabbath at home, enjoy the world I believe he created and I continue to strive to be the best me I can be... for me, that's honoring/worshipping G-d.

I used to feel that he was a mean G-d because of religious training I had as a child, but I opened myself up to reading all kinds of opinions of others, attended bible studies of other religious groups and then decided for myself.
Reply:He gave you life and the gift of salvation through Jesus!
