What is the normal amount($) given by the tooth fairy today?

Does anyone even still do this? My daughter(5) had to have a tooth pulled today because it broke and she is all excited about having the tooth fairy visit. How much should "she" leave for her? I know that I used to get a quarter. My hubby says a dollar is about right today. What does everyone else say?

Also did you save the first tooth or toss it?

What is the normal amount($) given by the tooth fairy today?
Ome parents give a dollar some two. I had mine write a note to the tooth fairy and ask for the tooth back, so in case she found it I had a note. Then, I called the time lady and pretended it was the tooth fairy and warned her that we had a note and not to be scared.. She believed me for a long time. It worked so well, my friend called one day and siad that her daughter lost a tooth and sai that my daughter said you had to call the tooth fairy and leave a note too......So I told her my trick. Fun stuff!
Reply:I ALWAYS GAVE MY SON A TWO DOLLAR BILL
Reply:I am 25 and I used to get a $1 but I think a 5 yr old would be excited about any amount of money., I would go with a dollar though.
Reply:i saved all my baby's teeth, he's 14... $1.00 is what I left at that age... later I left $3 - $5 as he got older
Reply:Save it. I got $ 5.00 for my first tooth and im 16 now. i was taught to save it . now i have to mutual funds bank account and a job. .... believe me my family is poor by the way
Reply:in my family it's $5 for the first tooth and $1 for any after that.. I'm an adult and my mom still had my first tooth wrapped up and dated.
Reply:The tooth fairy brings my kids $5.00 per tooth. And I saved the first tooth.
Reply:It all depends on how much they understand money i suppose.. If the child is say 8 years old she may be more aware of how much a dollar is worth, where as if you gave a 4 year old 50 c, she would probably be just as pleased as the 8 year old with her dollar?? i would say anywhere between 50 c and 2 dollars, remember if this is her first tooth and you give her a dollar then every tooth she loses she gonna expect at least the same amount or more each tooth!
Reply:Well if the child got the tooth pulled she should get a little more then a buck. I know from experience how badly the novacane hurts... and i'm 20.

Maybe around $3.
Reply:I say 1$ you have to think on how much this will cost when all her teeth need to go see the tooth fairy. Maybe rather then money leave sticker or like coupon for ice cream, or prize, and each time she loses one she gets a new surprise! That way she never knows what she will get.
Reply:Go all out....... $5.... you only live once................ Jeez Tooth Fairy, don't be cheap..... I know the gas to fly around is getting expensive, but you've got to invest your money better...... Honestly........
Reply:I used to get a few dollars for each tooth. Usualy it's between $1 to $5 dollars for each tooth. Most wise for her not to buy candy though, LOL
Reply:you can save them but some times they dry out and crack . $1.00 sounds about right, but trust me she'll be expecting that much for each tooth that comes out. Make her a small pouch to put her tooth in. So, the tooth fairy can find it.
Reply:For the first tooth for my daughter I believed I gave her a dollar in quarters just for the fact she knows that the "TOOTH FAIRY" gives coins so thats what she got. I actually saved her first tooth. But I just made sure that she doesn't see it you know...
Reply:What a great question. At today's rate I think 1.00 is right. But leave it in quarters. She does have a "piggy bank" doesn't she. Save all the teeth. They all have a meaning. Trust me. Those are your memories too. Been there..done that.
Reply:Save the first or even all of them, and the first tooth 2.00 and then after a dollar.
Reply:I still have all my kids teeth, and most are dated, every time one of my sons loses one, I have them put them in a baggie and then under their pillow, then it is easy to grab them out and throw a paper with the date in the bag, then in my drawer under everything they go. when my Mom passed, we found our teeth in the bottom of her jewelry box, it was kind of neat to remember the lost teeth days. And how much she cherished every moment of our lives. P.S I would give her $5 if it is not too much for you, tell her she must have gotten so much because she had to go through so much pain.

Take Care! Good Luck!! And have fun, they don't stay little long!
Reply:i used to get $3-$5 depending on the size of the tooth
Reply:$5 per tooth

$10 if the dentist pulled it with another $5 if it is in a treasure chest
Reply:In our household, the tooth fairy gives $1 for a regular tooth and $5 if they lose a silver cap. She says they are special because the child went to an appointment to get it put in.
Reply:just give her $5 bill.

my mom always tossed it.....

give her a 5 cuz she was strong and got the tooth pulled out..

and that should hurt
Reply:i always used to give my children $5
Reply:$1
Reply:well i have a younger brother that is 7 and he usually gets about in between $5-$10 so yeah u might want to give her $5 cuz she is still little and she doesnt really know what to do with money!!!!!
Reply:My mom saved my first tooth, and all my other ones too. But I think they got lost on our last move...Anyway, when I was younger my parents never gave me money for teeth. I would always get a little present (a barbie doll, a little book, stuff like that) instead. My parents never saw the point in giving money for a tooth when they could buy something fun and useful instead (after all what can a kid buy with $1?). So yeah, i would just get her a little book or something.
Reply:i havwe five kids, for their first tooth i gave 2 dollars the rest they got 1 dollar
