Our 4yr old lost his 2nd tooth yesterday.
As we have another younger one now and they sleep in the same room, we told him to put the tooth in a little plate in the kitchen so the tooth fairy didn't disturb the baby in the night.
I thought $2 would be fair for a 4yr old.
Next morning he come running into our room at some ungodly hour with his little eyes gleaming with joy.
"Wow, the tooth fairy came, the tooth fairy came" he squealed.
"That's lovely mate" I said on automatic as I cringed beneath the covers from the high-C aural onslaught.
"How much did she give you tiger?" I asked.
"$27.54" he shouted, spilling countless small change all through the bed in his victory dance across the doona cover and my abdomen.
"She's little sneak dad!",
He bellowed with his lips just touching my earlobe.
(for he has always harboured doubts about my hearing abilities)
"She hid bits of money EVERYWHERE out there."
(You don't want to know what the kitchen looked like.)
How much should the tooth fairy give.........?
I suggest buying a pillow special for the "tooth fairy", they are very inexpensive, and then I would leave $2 for a small tooth and $3 for a molar. If it is in the "pillow, your child will know that is the "only" thing or money the "fairy" left!!! Who got the honors of picking up the Kitchen???
Reply:lol, lol, well, you will get a lot use for the few bucks you spent on the pillow! lol, sounds like fun! Report It
Reply:I think 2 dollars are enough for a 4 years old child!
Reply:lol. $27.54 is a great amount for someone who will look for it! lol kids are funny.
Reply:How clever of your little one to be able to count money so well!!! But, yes $2 is plenty for the tooth fairy to leave. There are plenty more baby teeth where that one came from and the tooth fairy could go broke if he/she keeps this up!!!
Reply:haha, that's great, what a nice story, thanks. I thought $2 would be good for second tooth too... but ofcourse $27.54 is a lot better! Geez, I wonder how much he's expecting for his third tooth!?!
Reply:wow that kid is smarter than it knows. you have a genius on your hands--that's freakin' funny!
Reply:omg..lol thats so funny..and cute
Reply:As the child of a former dental assistant, I give based upon how difficult it was for the child (or dentist) to get the tooth out. If it popped out with no worries, I'll do 2.00 but if it was a 3 day event for the kid pulling on it and twisting it, I'll go 3.00 or 3. and change. I rarely go higher than that. It would have to be a hell of a day at the dentist to get over 3.50 for a tooth.
Reply:i would say for a 4 year old 3 or 4 dollars because u dont want to give them barely but not to much!!!
Reply:2 dollars cause she lost two teeth. 4 dollars if she loses 4 and so on..
Reply:2-3 Dollars Euro ou USD,is enogh per tooth!
Reply:Well I used to get $1 for a normal tooth and $2 for a molar. That's in Australian money too.
Reply:What a brilliant story. Sounds like your 4 yr old would have it all over my poor self in the ingenuity srakes, therefore I fear to enter into any debate as to which amount should be appropriate
Reply:in your profile it says u have like three gf's HAHAHA
the tooth farie give you a gold coin
1 if its just a lil tooth
2 if its a big tooth
and like buy somthing for him when its his Last tooth
Reply:i gave my daughter $10 for the first tooth cause it was special and $2 for her tooth she lost last month cause the rest are not as special......you have to think of inflation*LOL i only go 20 cents when i was young and it took a week for the fairy to come
Reply:its an under the pillow thing-she's so QUIET that the baby isn't disturbed-its 50 cents and a pack of gum(sugarless of course!) My one son swallowed a tooth and had to leave a letter-it was SOOOOOOOOOO pathetic that the tooth fairy left a small bionicle inits place(7 dollar toy) we lost 8 teeth in six months-I'd go bust at 27 bucks a tooth!
Reply:haha!! thats funny!! wonder hw much he'd expect for the 3rd tooth!!
Reply:Well I don't know if you should be lying to your kids period. My mom never told me about the tooth fairy because her parents did and she knew how heartbreaking it was when they told her it wasn't real. I think that this should also pertain to Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. I think it's just wrong lying to your kids. Sorry if this steps on your toes.
Reply:awwww that is so cute ..know thats one smart kid jejeje
Reply:Wait the toothfairy isnt real? *sobs* hehe I only got $1*wipes away tear* but its been 10 years since I was 4 so times have changed and Im getting old. So I think its fair.
Reply:$2 is plenty, don't forget they have lots of teeth and you have another child. If you give more, you will always have to give that much - you can't give less...
