Tooth fairy v the christian god?

Im sure some of you when you were small were told about the tooth faery, you would leave your milk teeth under your pillow and would find a silver coin. As we get older we stop beleiving in such things and the tooth fairy really doesnt exist, she was a literally a faery tale.

The same can be said for the Christian god, if everyone who believed in this god, suddenly stopped he would cease to exist? There would be no one to keep the belief system going?

Just a little question to throw out to the forum...and..if I get any cut and pasted scripture rubbish I will totally ignore it. I would like people to answer this from the heart not from an outdated book of faery tales..thanks :)

Tooth fairy v the christian god?
The tooth fairy dident give me peace, nor make me feel as whole as I do now.

Nor did paganism, which was a path I followed for many years.

I was raised Catholic, but considered myself an athiest for the time I was in catholic school.I was taught about God but rejected the church, because I thought it was crazy.I thought it was as fake as the tooth fairy.

I became a Christian this year.

I can not describe to you how amazing it feels to be a Christian. How wonderful it feels to walk with the Lord.

I dont think it would be possible for everybody to just stop beleiving in God. Look at all the scientific evedence against God?? People still beleive. I still beleive with all my heart. Its called faith.
Reply:jesus was a good man. god is a myth Report It

Reply:superstition. :)
Reply:excuse me! How can there not be a tooth fairy? mt tooth fell out last nite and this morning there was a shiny £1 coin under my pillow :)
Reply:You have the constitutionally protected and God given right to your opinion. However, I find it amusing that you are so sure that your opinion is correct, when there are so many greater minds, both now, and in the past who do believe in the God that you mock. Your theology will change. Either in this life, or shortly thereafter.
Reply:yes. we have been presented an equal amount of proof that they both exist.

wow. I knew this Q was going to p. some people off when I read it. But to simply lay into you without even answering the question? Talk about blind faith...
Reply:I like how you pick out the most common religion to make fun of..even though the same can be off any god...and the pourpose of beliving in anything is to shoot yourself in the head.
Reply:Sounds like a nice fairy tale but it won't happen. There will always be us that believe in God despite what those that don't say. I'm sorry you feel angry.
Reply:you haven't really asked a question, just made some statements.

if everyone stopped believing in god then if he did exist why would he disappear? you are assuming that the faith in god of the world is what keeps him alive.

i am an atheist myself so don't believe in god, but for me to assume that if he did exist he would disappear if the whole suddenly became atheist is wrong. if he does exist then no amount of faith / lack of faith will make him appear / disappear.

if however everyone suddenly caught amnesia then god would not be remembered but if as you assume, he would still exist.
Reply:it depends. by that theory, it is belief that makes things exist. So wouldn't that mean that since so many believe in the trinity that it does exist? If I stopped believing that george bush is president, would he cease to be president. no. (darn, wish it were true)

Christianity is not merely a belief system. it is a historical construct that has informed the world for centures. even if every christian ceased to exist, the impact of the christian faith would still be felt in society.

the bible is not fairy tales. neither is it perfect. It is a n historical document with errors. And many truths.

"do unto others as you would have them do to you" that is such a good creed.

"choose life" another little bon mot. the bible is a rich tradition that informs judaism, christianity, and islam.

Also, the idea that people should LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND RESPECT EACH OTHER...a christian idea (that most modern christians ignore) the modern european agnostic would not have an affable view of fellow humans without the post-christian morality that is based in part by philosophy and teachings of renaissance era humanists (who were christians like eramsus)

most people in the world believe in some sort of god. most people in the world realize the tooth fairy is a fable.

why is it that one is discarded and one kept? because they are fundamentally different.
Reply:"if everyone who believed in this god, suddenly stopped he would cease to exist?"

Gee, and maybe if we all visualized "world peace" all fighting would cease to exist... Give me a break...

Just because your mind is so small that you cannot comprehend something existing outside of this physical world -- that doesn't mean it isn't there. The evidences of a creator are all around us...you simply choose to ignore them.
Reply:I am a Christian. God is our creator and saviour, i know this in my heart and trust him with my life. I have an example of God being real from just today. I have been praying about a situation in my life for some time and came across a book on ebay which looked like it would help...i lost the auction and the book is no longer in print. Today i my mum asked me to come to opp shop. I only ever look for clothes in opp shops as the books r usually crap. Well just as we got to door God spoke to me (in form of a thought) he said "Go to book section u will find what u are looking for. So i went straight there and it was first book i looked at!! Sometimes i feel at distance from God and then he makes his preence so clear!! Hope this helps u.
Reply:You know what would happen?

People like you would target some other cultures God.

Other cultures do beleive in God you know.
Reply:Tooth fairy is a fairy tale to encourage children to get afraid when they drop milk teeth ... Christians God is the same only God for all people, whether some beleived or not, this will never change that fact.
Reply:I know very little about the Christian God, but I do know that Faeries are real and so do many of my friends. When we sit around the fire telling faerie stories, They're all true. And we've all got our stories. Here are a few of my favorites:

One time, on a camping trip, it was an especially magickal night. At some point, everyone in the camp noticed that something was missing, including a necklace from around one woman's neck. The area where we were camping was seperate from any other areas and so no one came into the area. Suspecting activity of the Fae, everyone put out offerings, except for the woman who lost her necklace. She cursed the fairies. The next morning, everything was returned except the necklace. To this day, the necklace has never been found.

On another camping trip, I put my tent right in the middle of a natural faery ring. When I camp, I always have a flashlight with me at all times. The only place I could have lost it was in my tent, so I searched my tent, and the flashlight was not in there. Then I had two friends search the tent, and they couldn't find the flashlight. I put out offerings to the fae, and the next morning, the flashlight was back in my tent.

Another camp-out, We had a tarp structure in the most wind protected part of a wind protected valley. I've put up a lot of tarp structures, and it was put up very well. I've put up hundreds of tents and tarp structures, and I know what I'm doing. In and around the tarp structure where etched glass tealight holders on stands averaging about 4 feet high (it was beautiful). That night, the structure blew over (in a wind protected area) but when it fell, somehow it completely missed all of the etched glass. About mid way through the day, with no one anywhere near the structure, about half of it spontaneously stood back up.

These are just a few of my Faery stories. My friends have a great many more. We've seen many things which defy mundane explanations.
