When does the Tooth fairy stop paying?

I have a dental appointment with my son today to have a baby tooth removed to make room for his appliance. He's 12 years old at this time and still has several baby teeth left.

With this said, I was wondering this morning what the rest of you think. When does the "tooth fairy" stop paying for teeth? When the child knows who the fairy is or when all of the baby teeth have fallen out?

When does the Tooth fairy stop paying?
When all of the baby teeth fall out, or until the child stops caring about the tooth fairy - even if your son knows it is you, if he likes the tradition enough to put his tooth under his pillow, and it still lights up his face to lift that pillow and see some change or a dollar or whatnot, it's worth doing. Keep holding on to these moments when he's still a child at heart because it goes by so, so fast...
Reply:At the same time when child finds out and understands (from their friends) that there's no Tooth fairy.
Reply:about 7-9 yrs old
Reply:when ur kid looses all his teeth
Reply:I am planning on having the tooth fairy pay up until the last baby tooth. Even if he doesnt believe in her.
Reply:When the baby teeth are all gone.

Just like Christmas presents don't stop when they stop believing.
Reply:When they stop believing
Reply:I agree with when they loose all thier baby teeth. I told my kids "I don't care what you believe, it's about me, so you had better act surprised."
Reply:to be honest with you he does seem a bit old to still belive in the tooth fairy, but if he still does and you are ok with that, then i would keep giving until he lost all baby teeth. if he stops beliving before he has lost all his teeth, then you wont have to carry on giving him money anyway!!
Reply:When I was growing up, the tooth fairy paid for every baby tooth, even though I was certainly old enough to know who the tooth fairy really was by the time those last baby molars went. It will be the same for my children.
Reply:Do what you want to you are his mother. do not wait for some stranger approval to do what u feel is right.
Reply:It's going to be different with every kid. You know your son best, so it's up to you. If he is still expecting something I wouldn't disappoint him. If he asks, just tell him the truth, he is a smart kid I'm sure and will understand. Lets face it, either way he still has some money and a mother who loves him. Take care!
Reply:When he knows there is no longer a fairy. You could however go buy a small treat for him if he was good at the Dentist's office.
Reply:I stop paying when the last baby tooth fell out even do he knew it was me..
