How much does the tooth fairy leave for the "first" tooth lost?

Just wondering what the going rate was.

How much does the tooth fairy leave for the "first" tooth lost?
Considering that the cost of raising a child in this day and age runs somewhere between $200,000 %26amp; $400,000 and children have 20 baby teeth. The cost of that first tooth should be somewhere around $10,000 - $20,000!

Of course, the tooth fairy isn't made of money so it might take them about 18 years to come up with this sort of funding. In the meantime, with timely monthly payments and some crude investing, inflation shouldn't affect the long terms costs too much.

As for a down payment due at the time the tooth is removed. I'd guess somewhere in the $1 range depending of course on the current financial situation. Just don't let them buy that chocolate bar with the money. Just remind them, "Ten years from now I can either buy you new teeth or a new car!" At six, they'll definately choose the chocolate over the car.

Whatever the tooth fairy decides to leave, make sure Mom gives them much more. :)
Reply:I always got a dollar, but I guess 50 cents would be good too.
Reply:a dollar.
Reply:lol.. well I think I got a nickle.. but with the rate of inflation I would say a dollar.
Reply:That depends on the parent...I have heard $5.00 from one parent...$1.00 from another parent. I can remember getting half-dollar coins for mine...
Reply:They never leave the same amount for each kid because then everyone would know what they're gonna get and tell all the other kids before they get a chance to get their money. It has to be random.
Reply:dollar 1
Reply:My son lost his first tooth just a few months ago...The going rate these days is about 5 bucks! Can you believe it?! I was lucky to get a pack of gum and some spar change. :)
Reply:I knew the tooth fairy had been ripping me off!!!!
Reply:well it was a dollar when i was a kid many moons ago,,give 2 dollars in quarters seems like more money that way.
Reply:I think $5 dollars for the first tooth is sufficient enough.. When they are that young, they don't understand the value of money yet anyway. My 5 year old is really smart, and she still gets excited over a quarter! I'd do $1 or $2 dollars after that....
Reply:A quarter is good to start-a dollar is better! you can teach your child to save money in a piggy bank! That's what I did for my child.
Reply:i think it worth one dollar...
Reply:I was so lucky that I had one of those dollar coins around

but anything should be fine :)
Reply:$1.....i always leave a dollar....and so do my daughters friends parents....it helps if it's the same amount as the children do talk amongst themselves...makes them believe in the tooth fairy more

That's my wife's answer; she's crazy, it should have been a nickel and some dental floss.
Reply:I used to get 25 cents. But nowadays a dollar is good.
Reply:$1.00
Reply:five dollars
Reply:A dollar slips under the pillow easily.

One fun idea: In addition to the dollar, sprinkle a little glitter under the pillow. It looks like fairy dust and makes everything special.
Reply:25 cents! That is all that they need! 50 cents for the back teeth!! Kids don't need 5 dollers!!!
Reply:$5.
Reply:well my son knocked both of his bottom front teeth loose and lost them both within a few days of each other and hes about to loose one of his front top teeth I ended up 5 dollars short for his first 2 since the tooth fairy waited a day to get both teeth at the same time so i would say about 2 dollars for one if you get more than one at a time no less than 5 dollars, but then again when I was a kid I used to get 50 cents in nickles
Reply:dunno. dint get any for mine...!! so i should get 10 points for being frank..!! :P LOL
Reply:50 cents or a dollar is good
Reply:I got a dollar form all my teeth but I have some friends that got about $20 for one tooth!
Reply:This may depend on the Tooth Fairy's income level. Some kids are lucky and get $5 a tooth, while others get $1 for a tooth.
Reply:When my oldest lost her first tooth the gold dollars had just come out. So thats what I chose to give her per tooth and it has continued down to the rest of my kids.
Reply:I remember getting some change for my teeth, but it really depends on the tooth fairy's income. I give my kids $5 per tooth. That's the going rate in this neighborhood.
