What is the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

My daughter is about to lose her first tooth. How much is given these days? (It was 20p when I was young!!)

What is the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?
well we have a funny story in our family about the toothfairy

my cousin lost his tooth he went on all day asking how much do you think i will get will it be enough for the new game i want.. he was told the toothfairy usualy leaves £1 but for goodboys who clean there teeth they sometimes get £1.50

so he went to bed with a toothless smile fell asleep and his mum went in to put the £1.50 under his pillow... she went to bed..then his dad came home from work and not knowing his wife had already done the toothfairy duty he also put £1.50... so in the morning when he woke threw his pillow of the bed to see what he had got he had £3 ...waking the whole house screaming im such a good boy who cleans his teeth i got £3 ......so thanks to my aunt and uncles misunderstanding all the children in the family think the going rate is £3 but the good thing to come from it we all brushed our teeth untill we could see our faces in them........

so i have started saving already.. my daughter doesnt have all her teeth yet but its going to cost me when she starts losing them

goodluck and im sure your daughter will be greatfull no matter what she gets
Reply:that's such a cute quesiton i'm going to star it!
Reply:I gave my son £1 recently and it was for my tooth as well! Saying that he is a spoilt brat so I wouldn't follow my example necessarily.
Reply:$57.00 US lol

$1.00 worked for all my four children. If they lost two on the same day I gave them $2.00!
Reply:depends on your affluence, i have friends who give a couple of pounds for a tooth. their children know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Reply:I have no idea... My daughter's 5, and her time will be coming soon. I was planning on leaving a dollar and maybe a little beanie baby toy (she's addicted to stuffed animals-- I've decided to quit fighting it.)
Reply:£2.oo.
Reply:its bout £1
Reply:£2
Reply:£1 would be plenty
Reply:My seven-year-old has lost a few teeth and i just give her £1 but my sister gives her 6-year-old £5 every time she looses a tooth, i asked her why so much and she swears it's the going rate these days!!!!

going rate or not, £1 is plenty for my daughter and she's never complained about it!!!!! x
Reply:i would say a pound. my mum never gave me money i used to have it under my pillow for weeks then loss it and not get any money. :-( you should give her more for losing her first say 2 pounds
Reply:hiya,i give my daughter £2.50 for a tooth,it has gone up alot, haha ,hope i have helped you out
Reply:My kids get $5 U. S.
Reply:Oh fifty pence should be fine, it's about the magic, not the cash even for the kids.
Reply:I tnink it's around a pound!!
Reply:the best thing probably is to remember what you could buy with 20 p in those days (wow 4 shillings) and calculate what's the equivalent.

or... just use the biggest coin :) 2 q or so?
Reply:About a dollar. Two dollars max.

The kids gonna be happy with any amount. Two dollars produces the same amount of joy as one would.
Reply:My kids get $1.00 I like to give them gold dollars. They really think they are special when they get one. It's like a treasure.
Reply:i would say a pound is ok and 2 pound for a special front tooth!
Reply:i think 50p is enough! i have had this conversation with some mums in school and they agreed with 50p to £1. i have heard of people giving £5 but i think it's too much! My other friend wont tell her children about the tooth fairy as she says its lying to them!!!
Reply:It depends on the fairy. Some fairies are richer than others. I lost a tooth last week and my wife said that the tooth fairy comes to children only. When my children were small the going rate was 50p. Taking into consideration the rate of inflation and the rise in earnings I suppose the current rate should be £1 to £5 depending on the age.
Reply:I always gave £1 for the two big front teeth and 50p for the rest of them. I've got 3 kids, 19, 12 and 9 and it's always been the same, so my19 year old did a lot better financially from the tooth fairy than the 9 year old did !!
Reply:My daughter has gotton 4 quaters for each tooth she has lost.
Reply:Gold coin donation here in Australia ($1 and $2 coins are gold in color here).
Reply:i allways give my son 1.00 pound per tooth and 2 for2 ,and i will do the same when my 6year old daughter starts to lose hers.
Reply:I didn't teach my kid about santa or the toth fairy seeing it was such a big let down for me when my parents finally told me the truth. He turned out to be a good kid.He works and goes to college and is married.

Want to have some fun with the tooth and learn and teach something?Take the tooth and put it in a jar of pepsi ,coke or any type of soda.Let it sit for 2 weeks then look at it.The again at the end of the month. You will be shocked.
Reply:there not tooth fairys`now`? there` Tax fairys`- %26amp; they`charge you`$20 a tooth`? u could`buy her a nice`big` pink lady`ice cream`instead`
Reply:i have no idea, but you shouldnt indulge your children into that, they'll just want to go to fantasy land and disturb you
Reply:I used to get 10p a tooth when I was little. I'm going to be giving my son £1 a tooth - I think that's plenty.
Reply:My kids get $1.00 a tooth. The $1.00 comes in change so it looks like a lot of money to them. I sprinkle the money with glitter and tell them its fairy dust. They get so excited when they see it. At our house, the tooth fairy is about magic not what they can buy.

No, a dollar doesnt buy much these days but Im teaching my kids to save. They are saving for a trip to Disney World. They dont know it, but the money they save they will get for spending money when we go. They already have a huge clear bank 1/3 full. They love dropping the money in the bank's slot. So all the tooth fairy money goes in the bank toward Disney World!
