Most people just go along with things rather than questioning . I have explained to many devout Christians the Pagan origins of Santa Clause, the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny, and yet they continue to use these symbols which go directly against the true meaning of their bible. Everyone else is doing it, and it's easier to just go along.
Some will argue that they do it because it's fun, or because kids enjoy it, or they teach a moral lesson. These are just excuses which allow us to avoid taking personal responsibility.
Most Germans are good and decent people, and yet they allowed the Holocaust to happen. Most Muslims are good and decent people, and yet many are willing to support hatred and violence. It's all a part of the same group psychology.
It takes great strength of character to live a life true to one's beliefs, and too few people are willing to do that.
Santa Clause, Tooth fairy,Easter Bunny,God, all this this dont exist but why do people continue to accept it?
I'm a mom... Here's my answer, as a mom of 2 (7 and 12)
We continue accepting it because it's part of our Society, but also because it gives a reason to kids to do things right.
Santa Claus: if you're good all year, you'll get presents. We know they will receive present anyway, but sometimes, they don't. For the kids, it's something they're waiting for, for us, parents, it's something we can use to shut them up or stuff like that.
Tooth Fairy: this is probably the one I think doesn't fit so well. It's an excuse to give your kids some dollars... But it's also a way to thrown the tooth/teeth to the garbage. I remember when my oldest lost her first one. She wanted to keep it, then she wanted to keep them all...
Easter Bunny: it's for kids essentially. I don't know where it comes from exactly, but I know it's fun.
God: I won't comment on God since there are too much point of views on that. If you don't believe in God, it's your problem.
If you want a more scientific answer to your question, I suggest you search for the history of those "characters"
